The Chaplaincy operates with a great team of people - 2 paid staff, a team of 20 volunteer chaplains, a Board of Trustees and a number of others who give advice, time and other help on an ad hoc basis.
Michael is the Senior Chaplain with responsibility for recruiting, training and placing Chaplains, as well as making relationships with the local busineses. He is married with three grown-up children and was previously Town Centre Chaplain in Watford.
Our Chaplaincy is staffed by local volunteers.
David grew up in Luton and, after leaving school, did an apprenticeship at Vauxhall Motors. Since then, he has married Jane, had 3 children and become the Vicar of St Thomas’ Church in Stopsley. He has suffered through the ups and downs of Luton Town football club but is still a fervent supporter!!!
Clive is married to Ann and is interested in conservation and the environment. He says, “I am a Lutonian and proud of it!”
Ian is married to Lyn and they have a son and daughter who both live in Luton and have been blessed with four grandchildren. He worked for the Luton Fire Service for many years, before moving to Wales where he ran a cadet division for the St John’s Ambulance. His love of helping people led him back to Luton where he became a social worker in a children’s home before working as a site agent in a local school. If he has any spare time now, he enjoys painting in water colours.
Richard is married with two daughters. His day job is a scientist working for the Government. He is also a founder member of Luton Street Pastors and has been an active Street Pastor since 2009.
Steve attends St Thomas’ Church in Stopsley and is also a fundraiser for the Motor Neurone Disease Association (MNDA). In his spare time he enjoys going to the cinema and the theatre and attended his first music festival in 2014.
Vicky is married to David and has three grown-up children and five grandchildren and has lived with her family in Luton since 1970. She is an Elim Pentecostal Minister and has been Senior Minister at True Vine Fellowship for 16 years. Now retired, she is still involved with the Pastoral Team on a part-time, voluntary basis.
Jean is married to Martyn and has loved living in Luton for the last 38 years. She taught food technology in several local secondary schools but has now retired and enjoys looking after her small grandson twice a week.
Martyn is married to Jean and has lived in Luton for many years. He is an accountant and has been a Street Pastor since 2009.
Marion lives in Luton and originally served as one of our Street Chaplains before taking a break. She has now returned to serve as a Chaplain at the County Court.
Originally from Rugby, Warwickshire, Diane moved to Luton in 1989 and has 2 children aged 24 and 13. She attends both Blenheim Crescent Baptist Church, and Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church and enjoys going to the gym with her daughter.
Originally from South Wales, Sarah moved to Luton in 2003. She is married to James and is an active member of Hope Church. She is currently learning to ride a motorbike!
Jackie is married to Mark with grown up children, and grandchildren aged between 4 months and 13 years. She attends St Hugh’s Church, Lewsey, and writes poetry when inspired ......so be careful what you tell her about yourselves or it’s sure to end in an ode!!!
Luke is married to Jeni and together they work with various initiatives to share God’s love with those on the margins of mainstream society. Luke, a ragamuffin with a cause, is passionate about motorcycles, music and the marginalised. He is currently studying with CMS on their Pioneer Ministry course.
Heather has lived in Luton for 20 years and is currently exploring the possibilities retirement offers.
I was ordained as a minister in the Anglican Church in 1989. I came to Luton to be the University Chaplain on a 4 year contract in 1997. During this time I married Anthony - a Luton boy born and bred and so I have stayed ever since!! I have a daughter, Esther, and am part of the leadership team at St Mary’s Church in the town centre. I love football, chocolate and Strictly Come Dancing - not necessarily in that order!
David is married and is a Lutonian through and through and has lived in Luton all his life apart from 2 trips ‘up north’ where he worked in a hostel in Glasgow and for the Iona community. He worked at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital for many years and is now the full-time Pastoral Worker at St Thomas’ Church, Stopsley. I also serve at the NOAH soup kitchen. He says “I have been given a real heart for Luton and a love for this town and all its peoples and its rich diversity.
I am an American by birth where I was a teacher for 18 years. I have lived in the UK since 2003. I left my country in 1991 to work in Europe, the Middle East and Africa on various reconciliation and faith projects. I lead the Reconciliation Walk Community and we are partnering with St John the Baptist Anglican Church in Farley Hill in order to reach out to our neighbourhood.
Lecia lives in Luton and works as a hairdresser where she has plenty of opportunity to talk to people - but loves her role as a Chaplain to ASDA and can often be found helping customers to pack their bags - and chatting to them at the same time - as well as spending time with the staff.
Jessica is married with 3 children and a dog and has lived in Luton most of her life. She teaches part time at a local primary school and supports her husband in church planting initiatives.
I am originally from Hungary but have lived in Luton for more than 20 years. I am married to Tony and have 3 grown-up children, one of who is starting at university in September 2013. I also have a granddaughter in Liverpool. I currently work part-time as a care-giver for a home care company.
Carol is married and has lived in Luton for many years. She worked as a Financial Adviser for the Halifax in Watford and took early retirement in 2010. Carol is a member of St Hugh’s Church Lewsey and serves on the Parochial Church Council.
I am married to Geoff and have three children and seven grandchildren who are all a great delight to me. I have lived in Luton all of my married life and work part time in a local Community Centre. I have asked the Lord that I would experience/see a new thing about Him or his world every year for the rest of my life - have to say He never disappoints!!!
